Our Beginning
Cliff Wright's passion for coins and collectibles sparked in 2007, stemming from a deep fascination he'd held since youth. Following a 30-year tenure at Northrop Grumman, Cliff teamed up with Jerry Mills to establish a thriving company. After an extensive search, they settled on Goin' Postal at 2465 US Highway 1 S, securing an ideal spot at the back of the store. Initially, their display was modest, showcasing a few coins from their personal collection. But over time, their inventory expanded.
For years, they ran the sole coin store in Saint Augustine, attracting locals with their frequent presence at coin shows and a growing collection. Unfortunately, Jerry passed away in 2020 after a brief illness, taking a wealth of knowledge with him. In response, Robert (Bob) Jarrard stepped in to assist at the store.
When their lease ended in 2022 due to ownership changes, they faced relocation and a three-month shutdown. However, undeterred, they persisted in finding a new location. Eventually, they secured a spot just eight doors from their original store, expanding from 250 square feet to a remarkable 1,000 square feet. This strategic move facilitated substantial growth, enabling a wider range of coins and precious metals, enhancing the experience for their esteemed clientele.
Under the leadership of Clifford Wright, Bob Jarrard, and Caleb Jarrard, Silver Dollar City grew into one of Saint Augustine's largest coin stores, earning a reputation built on decades of trust, knowledge, and community.
In January 2026, Cliff unfortunately passed away, and Saint Augustine lost not just a shop owner but a cornerstone of its coin community. Cliff's knowledge, of collecting and connecting with customers, was irreplaceable, and his absence was felt deeply by everyone who walked through the door. The store closed for the first half of 2026 as the path forward was figured out and the process was started to continue his legacy.
Today, Silver Dollar City has been purchased and is under new ownership, with J.W. and Sam carrying the shop forward. We're honored to build on the foundation Cliff, Jerry, Bob, and Caleb laid, and we remain committed to the same passion for coins, collectibles, and customer relationships that made this store a Saint Augustine institution. The name and the legacy continue — same trusted spot, same dedication, new chapter.
